"Guild Wars 2" is a MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game) from Arenanet® that is currently in development with the Guild Wars 2 release date speculated to fall somewhere within 2012. Set in the fantasy world of Tyria, Guild Wars 2 follows the legend of earlier Guild Wars versions.
The biggest event in the storyline is the re-awakening of the Destiny's edge- A dispersed guild of fighters earmarked for the purpose of fighting the prejudicial rule of the Elder dragons on Tyria. Guild Wars 2 also introduces a new race- the Sylvari in addition to the Humans, Asura, Norn, and Charr from the earlier versions.
The player can create a character based on one of the five races and the eight professions announced so far. The professions are divided into three armor classes-Light armor (Scholars), Medium armor (Adventurers), and heavy armor (Soldiers). Below are some of the professions and an introduction to their associated abilities.
• Warrior (soldier profession). Warriors can use both melee and ranged weapons. The ranged weapons of warriors are dedicated to direct damage. The Specialty of warriors is their Adrenaline mechanic- a feature that accumulates as damage is delivered and multiplies the power of abilities. A special ability is also unlocked at a certain high level of adrenaline.
• Elementalist (Scholar profession). The Weapons of the Elementalists are magic-based; manipulating the four classic elements water, fire, earth, and air. In the game, the weapons of the elementalists are called attunements and the character can switch between them like other characters do between weapons.
• Ranger (Adventurer profession). The ranger uses melee and ranged weapons. Rangers can also use means such as spirits and traps to influence and defend areas respectively. The specialty of the rangers is their ability to select a pet from a diverse selection of animals equipped with all kinds of skills to assist them in battles.
• Guardian (Soldier). The primary weapons of the guardian are what are called "3 Virtues"- Courage, Resolve, and Justice. In addition to applying these to allies, they can also be used to empower the guardian's own passive skills. Guardians can also call enchanted weapons and make "wards" to keep enemies from approaching.
Those are only some of the gameplay features available in the game and it's still under development. There is still a lot more information to be released before the Guild Wars 2 release date.
Now let's talk about the technical details. The game is based on the original game engine, but it has been highly renovated and modified. The animations and the graphics have been stepped up too. The game also uses a better physics engine called "Havok". The system requirements haven't been released yet, but are expected to be in the midrange gaming computers range.
The game is expected to cause quite a roar when the Guild Wars 2 release date is upon us. So all I can say is be sure to keep up to date with the latest information!
